A Sunday on La Grande Jatte is a large oil painting by French Post-Impressionist artist Georges Seurat, created between 1884 and 1886. It depicts Parisians of various social classes relaxing on the Île de la Grande Jatte, an island in the Seine river west of Paris. Seurat used a technique of small, precise dots of colour — later called Pointillism or Divisionism — which blend optically in the viewer's eye. The painting is in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago.
