It depicts the goddess Venus emerging fully grown from the sea on a large shell, blown to shore by the winds. The painting is displayed in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy, in the dedicated Botticelli Rooms. It is one of the most famous and reproduced images of the Italian Renaissance.
