## Quick answer

World Museum Guide checks admission prices and opening hours against each museum's official website and shows the date of that check on every guide. We carry no ads, sell no tickets and take no commission, so rankings and recommendations are not paid for. Material corrections are published in a dated corrections log.

## Who is responsible for the content?

World Museum Guide is an independent publication founded by [Kaiser Khan](https://worldmuseumguide.org/author/kaiser-khan/). The site's editors are responsible for every guide. A page's “updated” date is not a claim that a museum or any named person has reviewed it; where a guide says its facts were checked, the date and the source of that check are shown on the page.

## What sources do we use?

Visitor information — admission, opening hours, closing days, free-entry rules and closures — comes from the museum's own website. When we have checked a specific admission page, the guide links to it directly; otherwise it links to the museum's homepage. History and collection descriptions draw on the museum's published material and established reference sources. Visitor numbers used for rankings come from the museum or the annual attendance survey published by *The Art Newspaper*.

Ticket resellers, travel blogs, forums and AI summaries can suggest questions to investigate. They are never the authority for a price or an opening time.

## What do the dates on a guide mean?

-   **Facts checked** — the date we last compared the guide's visitor information with the museum's official source.
-   **Updated** — the date the page last changed in substance, including changes to the page layout or new sections.

Every one of our 257 museum profiles carries a check date. Our build process warns when a profile has not been checked for 12 months and refuses to publish one older than 18 months. The most-visited museums are re-checked more often because their prices and hours change most.

## How do we rank the “best museums”?

City and country lists order museums by global attendance rank first, then by recorded annual visitors, then by the depth of our guide to them. Museums that are temporarily closed move to the end of a list and are labelled. Rankings are never sold, and no museum can pay to appear or move up.

## How do we stay independent?

The site has no advertising, no sponsored placements and no affiliate ticket links. “Official website & tickets” buttons go to the museum itself. Optional reader donations cover hosting and research time; donors get no influence over content. Museum pages may show an appeal for World Animal Rescue Network, a charity connected to our founder — it is clearly labelled and unrelated to how museums are covered.

## What do our automated checks establish?

Before every release, automated checks confirm that each museum has an official website, admission details, opening hours and a check date; that free-entry labels do not contradict listed prices; that internal links and images resolve; and that structured data matches what is visible on the page. These checks keep the site consistent. They cannot confirm that a museum has not changed its prices since we last looked — always confirm with the museum before you travel.
