About Garage Museum of Contemporary Art
Garage Museum of Contemporary Art was founded in 2008 by Dasha Zhukova and Roman Abramovich as Russia's first philanthropic institution dedicated to contemporary art. In 2015 it moved into the renovated Vremena Goda (Seasons of the Year) restaurant pavilion in Moscow's Gorky Park — a 1960s modernist building transformed by Rem Koolhaas's OMA.
OMA's renovation preserved the original Soviet mosaic panels depicting seasonal scenes while inserting contemporary gallery spaces, a café, and a bookshop.
